Can PhotoModeler model long road scenes?

Yes, PhotoModeler can measure and model long road scenes. PhotoModeler was the first photogrammetric product to offer Project Merge – expressly to assist in this function. The idea is to capture the scene as a number of sub-projects of length up to approximately 150 feet long each (or longer with high resolution cameras).

The basic scene photography guidelines do not change much but some extra consideration should be given to overlap and shared points across adjoining segments. The Project Merge function is used to merge all the smaller projects into one larger whole using measured translations, or shared points. Alternate methods include using a sparse network of control to tie many photographs over a large area together, or using pre-incident or post-incident aerial photography to tie the ground photography together.
