CCD

CCD is an acronym for Charge Coupled Device. CCDs are used in a video or digital camera to capture and record light as film does in a film camera. Another modern device for capturing images in digital camera is a CMOS device. While a CMOS device is not a CCD, we use CCD here to mean any digital imaging chip in a digital still or video camera.
