EXIF

Short for EXchangeable Image File. This is a file format that is a standard for storing information in digital photography image files. Almost all new digital cameras use the EXIF format, storing information in the image such as shutter speed, F number, focal length, date/time, resolution, etc.  JPE.G. EXIF files can be read by any application supporting JPE.G. Not all programs read the EXIF header information though (as PhotoModeler does).

The EXIF format is being replaced by DCF (Design rule for Camera File systems). DCF merges the CIFF and EXIF digital image file formats. Where PhotoModeler refers to EXIF, DCF can be used interchangeably.
