To select an item with the mouse, move the cursor to the item in a window; the mouse cursor will change to indicate the type of object over which the cursor is positioned, which helps identify what is about to be selected. Click the left mouse button without changing the mouse position. Once an item is selected, its color or highlight will change.
If you want to move the item in a Photograph, do not release the mouse button - simply drag the item to its new location by moving the mouse and then releasing the mouse button. Items cannot be moved in Tables or 3D Views.
