To pan the photograph:
Adjusting the vertical scrollbar will pan the photograph up or down. Adjusting the value of the horizontal scroll bar will move the photograph from side to side. The setting in the Preferences dialog 'Real-time image pan update' (under the Image page, see Preferences - User Interface) allows you to choose if the image is panned during scrolling in real-time or not. If this preference is checked, when you move either of the scroll bars, the image is panned in real-time. Otherwise the image will be refreshed in its new position only after you stop scrolling and release the mouse.
Note: Depending on the speed of your machine you may want to change the time delay setting. You can balance the speed of panning versus the quality of the pan. The Preference setting that controls this speed vs. quality trade off is "The number of milliseconds the mouse should be stationary before redrawing the image during pan" in the Image page. If you have a fast machine try lowering the setting (perhaps to zero) to get high quality, smear-less panning or if you have a slow machine, and panning is too slow or not interactive enough, try increasing this setting.
To pan the photograph in both directions at once:
• Pick up the "panning" tool from the toolbar .
• Press the mouse button down and drag the photograph with the "panning" tool.
Part of the photograph is updated as you move the mouse. When the photograph has been dragged to the correct location release the mouse. PhotoModeler will redraw the photograph.
Additionally see the Temporary Zoom / Pan Mode section below for a method of panning without leaving the current mode.
This tool is not accessible when the 3D Viewer is active. If in this mode and a 3D Viewer becomes active, the mode will switch to a valid mode for 3D, such as Zoom In.
