A measure of how capable an instrument is of providing the same reading for the same quantity as the measurement is repeated. For example, if a caliper is used to measure the thickness of a steel plate many times (opening the caliper and restarting the measurement each time), the repeatability is a measure of how different the measurements of thickness are.
