When a pinned import is added to a project, a verb/hyperlink appears in the information window that allows you to duplicate the point cloud and pin it in a different location.
This copy or duplicate of the import removes the need to reimport the file and saves some memory and file size. It is also useful for working with a point cloud that needs to be moved slightly between image frames or to check tolerance of a solution. This copy can be manipulated independently of the original import.
Click the “Create Secondary Pin Cloud” verb to duplicate the Import and associated cloud. If there are chosen points in the mesh for assignment, you will be given the option to copy them (without their project point assignments).
Note that if you have pinned the cloud to a photo, the secondary copy remains in the same location but as a free pin. I.e. the point cloud of the copy will be right on top of the primary point cloud. For example, if you had used a multi-point ray pin to place a vehicle on a photo, and then copy it, the copy will be in the same place but as a free pin with no point assignments.
If you delete the primary point cloud, the secondary copies will also delete (the secondary copy of the Import remains).
If you select a Point Cloud that is already a secondary copy, a verb will appear “Create another Secondary Pin Cloud” that will make a copy of the original but place it at the same location and rotation as the selected Secondary Pinned Cloud.
