Based on the selection of the external geometry’s ‘purpose’ on the left, the grid on the right will display various options. Related options for a particular type of external geometry are highlighted together in green. The settings outside the green area are not used.
Only one type of external geometry can be imported at once. Once you re-select an import type, settings in the previous type are lost.
A short description of each option is shown below the grid when an option is selected.
The OK button will enable once a valid selection is made. Clicking OK will use the settings in the active green section to define the external geometry object to be added to your project and will be displayed in the Imports and Coordinate Systems Pane.
For most options you will have a choice of entering your data manually (where the actual data is entered in the Imports and Coordinate Systems Pane, after this dialog is complete), or by browsing to a file that contains the data to be imported within this dialog.
When you select to import data from a file, a "..." button will appear at right where you browse to the appropriate file on disk, and a drop down selector is used define the units of the external data:
