Import File Types

The following table shows various supported file formats for import.

The Text File Import Filter Dialog is used to customize the data imported from a text file (e.g., .txt, .csv, .ctl).

Type of import

Type of external geometry

Type of files

Setting Scale

Distances

.txt/.csv/.ctl 1,2

Setting Multi-point Transform

X,Y,Z point positions

.txt/.csv/.ctl 1, .dxf, .obj, .3ds

Point Cloud X,Y,Z

.txt/.csv/.ctl/.asc/.xyz 1, .las, .stl, .dxf, .obj, .ply, .byu, .facet, .3ds

Setting Geographic Multi-point Transform

Geographic x,y,z point positions

.txt/.csv/.ctl 1, .dxf, .obj, .3ds

Control Imports

Imported points, lines and/or surfaces

.txt/.csv/.ctl 1, .dxf, .obj, .3ds

Point Cloud X,Y,Z

.txt/.csv/.ctl/.asc/.xyz 1, .las, .stl, .dxf, .obj, .ply, .byu, .facet, .3ds

Using known geographic control locations

Geographic x,y,z point positions

(only in PhotoModeler Premium)

.txt/.csv/.ctl 1, .dxf, .obj, .3ds

Pinned Imports, Static Imports

Imported points, lines and/or surfaces

.txt/.csv/.ctl 1, .dxf, .obj, .3ds

Point Cloud X,Y,Z

.txt/.csv/.ctl/.asc/.xyz 1, .las, .stl, .dxf, .obj, .ply, .byu, .facet, .3ds

Check points

X,Y,Z point positions

txt/.csv/.ctl 1, .dxf, .obj, .3ds

Check Distances

Distances

.txt/.csv/.ctl 1,2

Coded Target Coordinate Definition

Point IDs defining a scale/rotate/translate or multi-point transform

.ini 3

1 See Text File Import Filter Dialog   for information on importing data from a text file.

2 Text files with distance measurements should be formatted with each line containing a name of the measurement, with no spaces in the name, followed by the distance.

E.g.

Wall_A 10.03

Wall_B 14.534

Etc.

3 Coded target definitions are setup using the Coded Target Coordinate Definition file format.
