When a text file is selected for import, this dialog is displayed to filter and import appropriate data. A file's contents can be imported regardless of the file's formatting.
When the dialog first opens the imported file's content is scanned and delimiters, ‘skip rows’ and other settings are extracted automatically. These can then be overridden.
Note: not all data from the file is shown in this dialog - only a sample set of the first 20 rows are shown.
Data highlighted in green will be imported; data in gray will be ignored.
If the automatic settings do not show an appropriate data export region in green, you will need to adjust the parameters in the "Delimiters" and/or "Skip Rows" sections. The OK button will enable once valid settings are selected based on the import type.
See also Import File Types for a list of supported file formats for various types of imports. This dialog supports text files in the following formats: .txt, .csv, .ctl, .xyz.
