Camera Tag Matching

If you've added a 'tag' to the camera name, photos with that same tag in the file name will be matched to that camera. If the image and camera have EXIF information, the EXIF information must match as well.  If no EXIF information is present, the match will occur only on the tag.

Camera tags are useful when using multiple images taken with multiple identical cameras, or when using cameras that do not write EXIF information to the photo header.

To add a tag to the camera name, use the Camera Viewer Dialog and edit the Name, then use the Camera Library Dialog to add or overwrite the camera in your Camera Library.  You can also add a tag when prompted to add your camera to the library after a calibration or Field Calibration.

To add a tag to the camera name, enclose the identifier between '{' and '}' delimiters (contact Tech Support for information on customizing delimiters, if need be).  For example:

"NIKON D7000 [20.00] {cam2}"

where "cam2" is the tag that will be matched with the same tag in the photo file name, for example:

"cam2_05D_0096.jpg"

Unlike the camera name tag, the photo file name tag does not need to be enclosed by { and } delimiters.

To add a tag to the photo file name, use Windows explorer or file properties to edit the image file name manually (right click on the file and select rename).  Or, better is to do it automatically. Many cameras have a feature that adds a user defined tag or prefix to the image file name automatically (see your camera settings and documentation).

Make sure you use delimiters that are valid as characters in a Windows file name since the tag will form part of the photo file name (i.e., do not use invalid characters within the tag such as: < > , . : \ / " | ? *).  Tags are case insensitive.

Note: Once a camera has been tagged, a matching photo must have the tag in the filename. A photo without a tag in the file name will not be matched with a tagged camera even if all EXIF field match.
