Project Wizard: Select Photos

This pane allows you to add photos to your project. The pane has two main components: image file viewer, and the controls at right.  The file viewer on the left side of the pane lists images added to your project., which when starting a new project, will be empty.

Click the “Add Photos…” button to open a standard Windows file/directory selector to browse to the folder containing the images you want to add.  Only image types supported by PhotoModeler will display in this area (see also Add/Remove Photographs Dialog).  You can use Shift while selecting images or drag a region selector on multiple files to select and add more than one image at a time.  Once you’ve selected the images, click the Open button.

You can display images (in project) as thumbnails by checking the ‘Show Thumbnails’ check box at right (showing ‘Thumbnails’ allows you to view a small ‘thumbnail’ version of the images). When unchecked, the files will be shown in a ‘details’ view showing image file name, size, date modified, and full path.

A SmartMatch project by default shows photos in a grid, which is usually quicker to display, especially for a large number of photos (which is more typical in a SmartMatch project).

Note: the size of the thumbnails can be set on the Photo Control page of the Preferences dialog. See Preferences - User Interface.

The number of photos added to the project will be shown at right.  You can add additional images by clicking the Add Photos… button again, to browse to a new folder.  To remove an image, select the image in the viewer and click the Remove button at right.

Once you have selected all the images you wish to add to your project press the Next> button to advance to the next wizard screen. The “Next >” button will not enable until you add at least one image to the project.

Remember that you can also add or remove photos at any time after your project is set up using the Add/Remove Photographs Dialog.

Next you input camera information, see Project Wizard: Camera Source.

Note: If your photos have sufficient EXIF information, and if you have the camera(s) that took the photos stored in your Camera Library, PhotoModeler will automatically match and assign the appropriate camera to your photos (see Camera Matching and Camera Library), so the wizard will complete when clicking “Next>”. A Camera Matching notification will appear noting the camera that was matched with the photos.  If you have a mix of photos with varying focal lengths, CCD/Format Size, or resolution, and not all photos were matched with a camera in the library, a dialog will appear giving you the option to a) limit to a consistent set of photos or b) reselect a new set of consistent photos.  Camera matching and consistency checks vary by project type, so if you’re having trouble with starting a new project with your photos, please contact Technical Support.
